- Moscow willing to facilitate dialogue if all parties express interest, Andrey Rudenko says
MOSCOW, October 22, 2026 — Russia is prepared to serve as a mediator in efforts to resolve the conflict between the United States and Iran, provided that all parties demonstrate a willingness to pursue such an initiative, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko has said.
In an interview with the Russian daily Izvestia, Rudenko confirmed Moscow’s readiness to facilitate negotiations aimed at easing tensions and finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
“If all the sides demonstrate such interest, we are ready [to act as mediators],” Rudenko said.
Moscow Reiterates Diplomatic Offer on Iran’s Nuclear Programme
The Russian deputy foreign minister also recalled that Moscow had previously offered its services to help resolve issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme. However, he noted that Russia’s proposals had not received support so far.
“We have already offered our services regarding how the Iranian nuclear program might be resolved, but so far our proposals have not received support,” he said.
Russia Advocates Dialogue to Resolve Regional Tensions
Rudenko’s remarks signal Russia’s continued willingness to pursue diplomatic engagement over issues involving Washington and Tehran. Moscow’s potential mediation role would depend on the willingness of the parties concerned to accept its involvement.
Any renewed diplomatic initiative could provide an additional channel for dialogue amid continuing tensions between the United States and Iran. However, no agreement on Russia’s proposed mediation was announced in the remarks.
