- Military Says Airstrikes, Drone Operations and Artillery Fire Hit Command Centres, Weapons Depots and Supply Routes as Government Forces Advance
LONDON: Yemen’s armed forces said on Sunday they had carried out 1,732 precision strikes against Houthi military targets as ground forces continued advancing under Operation Dawn of Yemen.
Military spokesperson Majed Al-Nuzaili said in a statement posted on X that the operations involved warplanes, drones, field artillery and rocket launchers. The strikes targeted defensive positions, command-and-control centres, reconnaissance posts, artillery and rocket-launcher installations, troop concentrations, weapons depots and supply vehicles.
According to Al-Nuzaili, the campaign also targeted what he described as high-value military installations deep behind Houthi lines.
He claimed the operations had neutralised more than 900 Houthi fighters and destroyed or disabled over 287 military vehicles and pieces of equipment. The strikes also suppressed Houthi fire, disrupted command-and-control networks and hindered the movement of reinforcements and supplies, he added.
Al-Nuzaili said government forces were continuing to penetrate Houthi defensive positions and advance in accordance with the operation’s planned objectives.
The announcement came a day after the armed forces reported conducting more than 1,900 precision strikes within 24 hours across the eastern, western and southwestern fronts. In that earlier statement, the spokesperson claimed that more than 1,150 Houthi fighters had been neutralised and over 180 combat, transport and supply vehicles, along with other military assets, had been destroyed or disabled.
The reported figures could not be independently verified. The latest statements underscore the intensity of the ongoing military campaign, although the overall battlefield situation and the extent of the reported losses remain unclear.
