- Government focused on facilitating businesses, expanding global market access and encouraging overseas Pakistanis to invest
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating the business community, attracting investment and expanding Pakistan’s exports, while stressing the need for stronger economic engagement with international markets.
The prime minister expressed these views during a meeting with Chaudhry Asif Mahmood, CEO of Pak-Japan Group, at the Prime Minister’s Office, according to an official news release. Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the importance of taking effective measures to promote Pakistani products in international markets and expand access to new destinations.
He called for addressing the challenges faced by exporters and creating an environment that enables businesses to enhance their competitiveness and increase the country’s export volume. Prime minister said the government was committed to providing greater facilities to the private sector and supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s trade and investment base.
The meeting also reviewed measures aimed at improving facilities and support for overseas Pakistanis.
Discussions focused on creating a more conducive environment for overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan, while taking practical steps to address issues and difficulties faced by them. Government considers the overseas Pakistani community an important source of investment, economic activity and international business linkages. The meeting also discussed opportunities to further expand trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Japan.
Chaudhry Asif Mahmood, CEO of Pak-Japan Group exchanged views on strengthening bilateral commercial ties, promoting investment and exploring new avenues of cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
The discussions reflected a broader focus on leveraging Pakistan-Japan economic relations to support trade, investment and export growth. Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated that the government would continue working to facilitate businesses, promote investment and create opportunities for exporters to expand their presence in international markets.
Prime Minister’s Adviser Haroon Akhtar also attended the meeting.
