Pakistan and Indonesia Reaffirm Strategic Ties as PM Shehbaz Meets Indonesian Defense Minister

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Indonesian Defense Minister, Lieutenant General (R) Syafrie Samsudin, at the Prime Minister Office today, underscoring the deep-rooted and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.

Recalling his recent warm interaction with Indonesian President H.E. Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the G-8 Summit in Cairo, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his best wishes to the Indonesian leadership and people.

The meeting highlighted the strong cultural, religious, and historical bonds that shape Pakistan-Indonesia relations. Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepen cooperation in diverse fields including trade, investment, defense, and strategic collaboration.

Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing multifaceted bilateral cooperation. The Prime Minister reviewed the ongoing initiatives under the Pakistan-Indonesia Defense Cooperation Agreement and called for accelerated implementation of mutually beneficial projects, particularly in defense production.

Lieutenant General (R) Syafrie Samsudin conveyed the goodwill message of President Prabowo Subianto and reiterated Indonesia’s desire to further boost defense cooperation, including joint ventures in defense manufacturing.

The high-level meeting reflects the growing momentum in Pakistan-Indonesia ties and shared resolve to build a robust partnership for regional peace, prosperity, and strategic development.
