
Ethiopia and Pakistan Strengthen Ties in High-Level Defence Meeting
Islamabad – His Excellency Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, held a pivotal meeting with Pakistan’s Defence Secretary, Lt. Gen (R) Muhammad Ali HI(M), today to discuss deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Key Discussions
The two sides reviewed the existing Pakistan-Ethiopia relationship, reaffirming their commitment to expanding ties across defence, diplomacy, and economic spheres.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal highlighted Ethiopia’s transformative political, social, and legal reforms under Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s leadership. He noted the positive momentum in bilateral relations following the opening of Ethiopia’s Embassy in Islamabad and the launch of Ethiopian Airlines’ operations in Pakistan.
The Ambassador also emphasized Ethiopia’s strategic regional role, including its contributions to peace, security, and regional integration in Africa.
Pakistan’s Commitment to Enhanced Cooperation
Defence Secretary Lt. Gen (R) Muhammad Ali lauded Ethiopia’s homegrown economic reforms and sustainable development initiatives. He reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to strengthening relations with African nations, particularly Ethiopia, and pledged full support to advance mutual cooperation.
