Ambassador Khorev Attends Closing Ceremony of IX Russia-Pakistan “Druzhba” Military Exercises

Islamabad – Ambassador Albert P. Khorev attended the closing ceremony of the 9th Russia-Pakistan “Druzhba” joint military exercises, held at Cherat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The exercise brought together personnel from Russia’s 201st Military Base of the Central Military District, stationed in Tajikistan, and Pakistan’s Special Forces. The participating troops demonstrated a high level of operational coordination during counterterrorism exercises conducted in challenging terrain, employing advanced weapons systems, modern technologies and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The Russian and Pakistani forces were commanded by Colonel Oleg Stetsyuk, Deputy Chief of Staff of Russia’s Central Military District; Lieutenant General Muhammad Amir Najam, Inspector General Training and Evaluation; Major General Ahmed Jawad, Commander of the Special Operations Forces; and Brigadier General Muhammad Imran Aslam, Commander of the 22nd Special Forces Brigade of the Pakistan Army.

Addressing the participants following the tactical demonstrations on October 1, Ambassador Khorev congratulated both sides on the successful completion of the exercises. He praised the high degree of coordination, professionalism and cohesion demonstrated by the Russian and Pakistani units, emphasizing that the drills provided an important platform for exchanging operational experience, expertise and military traditions.

The Ambassador further highlighted the significance of the “Druzhba” exercises in enhancing mutual understanding and interoperability between the armed forces of Russia and Pakistan, while contributing to the continued strengthening of bilateral relations and security cooperation between the two countries.
