KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday urged leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) nations to intensify pressure on Russia following a new wave of deadly Russian attacks across Ukraine.

Speaking as G7 leaders gathered for a summit in France, Zelensky called for a firm and meaningful response from Western allies, including stronger measures against Moscow and additional military assistance for Ukraine.

“It is very important that there be a response from the G7 countries, which are now gathering for their summit — and that this response be decisive and substantive: more pressure on the aggressor and more support for Ukraine’s air defense, especially anti-ballistic capabilities,” Zelensky said.

Kyiv Seeks Greater International Backing

The Ukrainian president’s appeal comes after Russia launched further strikes that caused casualties and damage in several parts of Ukraine.

Kyiv has repeatedly urged its international partners to provide advanced air defense systems, warning that stronger protection is needed to defend cities and critical infrastructure from missile and drone attacks.

G7 Summit Faces Ukraine War Challenge

The Ukraine conflict remains one of the key issues on the agenda at the G7 summit, where leaders are expected to discuss military support, diplomatic efforts and long-term security commitments.

Zelensky’s call highlights Ukraine’s push for continued Western unity as the war enters another critical phase.
