ROCESTER, ENGLAND: Lucas Herbert delivered a record-breaking performance at LIV Golf UK Presented by JCB 2026, capturing a commanding six-shot victory and rewriting the league’s record books in spectacular fashion.
The Ripper GC star closed with a sensational 10-under-par 62 on Sunday to finish the tournament at 30-under par, securing a wire-to-wire triumph and establishing the lowest winning score in LIV Golf League history.
Herbert’s remarkable week also saw him set two additional LIV Golf records. He recorded 30 birdies, the most in a single tournament in league history, while his combined total of 32 birdies and eagles also established a new record.
From Royal Birkdale to JCB: Herbert’s Remarkable Run Continues
Herbert’s victory capped an extraordinary stretch of golf that began at Royal Birkdale, where he matched the major championship scoring record with a 62 at The Open.
He carried that momentum into JCB Golf & Country Club, opening the tournament with a spectacular 61 before following with rounds of 66, 69 and 62.
His four-round total of 61-66-69-62 left little doubt that the Australian is currently among the world’s most in-form golfers.
Herbert credited the confidence gained at The Open for helping him maintain his composure throughout the week.
“Last week gave me a lot of confidence that I can mix it with the best guys,” Herbert said.
He added that his goal was to carry that belief into the LIV Golf event and remain focused despite the pressure of competing against some of the sport’s biggest names.
Ripper GC Completes Double Celebration
Herbert’s individual triumph was only part of a memorable weekend for Ripper GC.
The Australian-led team captured the team championship at 52-under par, finishing four shots ahead of Legion XIII. The victory marked Ripper GC’s third team title of the season and its first triumph on European soil.
Ripper GC captain Cameron Smith also produced an impressive individual performance, finishing fourth at 17-under par after a closing 69.
Smith’s week included a remarkable eight consecutive birdies on Saturday, matching a LIV Golf record.
Hatton Finishes Runner-Up in Front of Home Crowd
England’s Tyrrell Hatton gave the home fans plenty to celebrate, producing a bogey-free 9-under 63 in the final round to finish runner-up at 24-under par.
The Legion XIII star made a fast start in his attempt to challenge Herbert but ultimately found himself unable to match the Australian’s extraordinary pace.
“Obviously Lucas played amazing today. I wanted to get off to a fast start, which is what I did, but unfortunately Lucas did as well,” Hatton said.
Despite falling short of victory, Hatton praised his own performance and paid tribute to Herbert’s outstanding week.
His result also helped Legion XIII secure second place in the team competition at 48-under par, with teammate Caleb Surratt contributing a strong tied-seventh finish.
DeChambeau Continues Strong Form
Bryson DeChambeau continued his impressive run of form following his performance at The Open Championship, closing with a 4-under 68 to finish third individually at 21-under par.
His result helped lift Crushers GC to third place in the team standings at 42-under par.
DeChambeau’s strong showing also narrowed the gap between him and Jon Rahm in the individual championship race, adding further intrigue to the season’s title battle.
Strong Finishes Across the Field
Abraham Ancer and Caleb Surratt shared fifth place at 14-under par, while Harold Varner III, Charles Howell III and Laurie Canter tied for seventh at 13-under par.
Canter produced one of the quieter highlights of the week for Majesticks GC, finishing with a 6-under 66 and giving the home crowd another English player to support during the closing stages.
Ian Poulter also finished the tournament at 8-under par, adding to the strong home presence on the leaderboard.
A Performance for the LIV Golf Record Books
From the opening tee shot on Thursday to the final putt on Sunday, Herbert dominated the tournament.
His 30-under-par total, six-shot margin of victory, 30 birdies and 32 combined birdies and eagles established a collection of records that underscored the quality of his performance.
With a major-championship record-equalling 62 at Royal Birkdale followed by four rounds of exceptional scoring at JCB Golf & Country Club, Herbert has emerged as one of the hottest players in world golf.
