EDMONTON, Canada: Japanese golfing sensation Miyu Yamashita delivered a dominant performance at the CPKC Women’s Open, cruising to a wire-to-wire victory with a record-equalling 23-under-par total of 257 at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton.
Yamashita, who began the final round with a commanding six-shot advantage, carded a 4-under 66 on Sunday to finish an extraordinary nine strokes ahead of compatriot Yuri Yoshida, producing a memorable 1-2 finish for Japan.
The 25-year-old’s winning total matched the LPGA’s 72-hole scoring record and shattered the previous CPKC Women’s Open tournament record of 262.
Record-Breaking Start Sets Up Dominant Victory
Yamashita laid the foundation for her remarkable triumph with a spectacular course-record 62 in the opening round. She maintained her composure throughout the tournament and never relinquished the lead.
Her final round featured six birdies and two bogeys, including a closing birdie that capped an impressive four-day performance.
“It was a day filled with tension, but I played a really good round,” Yamashita said. “I’m so glad I could finish with a birdie. I played well throughout the four days.”
The victory earned Yamashita $412,500 and marked her fourth LPGA Tour title.
Second LPGA Victory of the Season
The triumph was Yamashita’s second LPGA victory of the 2026 season, following her playoff success at the Meijer LPGA Classic in June.
Despite standing just 150 centimeters tall, making her one of the smallest players on the LPGA Tour, Yamashita has continued to establish herself as one of women’s golf’s most formidable competitors.
“I’m very happy to have secured two wins this season,” she said. “I want to keep working hard and aim for victory in the remaining tournaments.”
Japan Celebrates Historic 1-2 Finish
Yuri Yoshida’s runner-up finish completed a remarkable Japanese double, while South Korea’s Kim Sei Young finished third at 13 under, one stroke behind Yoshida.
Among the other Japanese players, Mao Saigo was the next best performer, finishing tied for 13th at 7 under.
A native of Osaka Prefecture, Yamashita made her full-time LPGA Tour debut last year and immediately made an impact, earning the tour’s Rookie of the Year award.
She previously dominated Japan’s premier women’s circuit, winning back-to-back season titles in 2022 and 2023, before making her mark on the international stage.
Yamashita’s latest triumph, combined with her record-equalling score and Japan’s 1-2 finish, further strengthens her growing reputation as one of the rising stars of women’s professional golf.
