- Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand Discuss Trade, Investment and Regional Stability
ABU DHABI: UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand have discussed bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest during a telephone call.
CEPA to Deepen Economic Partnership
Sheikh Abdullah congratulated Anand on the successful conclusion of negotiations and the finalisation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the United Arab Emirates and Canada.
He described the agreement as an important milestone reflecting the strength of relations between the two countries and their shared commitment to expanding cooperation, particularly in the economic, trade and investment sectors.
Sheikh Abdullah said the CEPA represents a strategic step toward consolidating the economic partnership between the UAE and Canada, adding that its completion in record time demonstrates the determination of both countries to deepen bilateral cooperation and advance their respective development priorities.
He also emphasised that stronger economic ties would contribute to sustainable growth and greater prosperity for the peoples of both nations.
Middle East Developments Also Discussed
During the call, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
They discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and explored ways to enhance regional and international efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and stability.
The discussions underscored the UAE and Canada’s shared interest in strengthening bilateral ties while working together on broader challenges affecting regional and global stability.
