WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said that the United States is preparing to carry out further “harsh” strikes against Iran, warning that additional military action could take place within hours.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said Washington had already conducted attacks against Iran and would continue its response.

“We will see what happens, but we hit them hard yesterday, and we are going to hit them hard again today,” Trump said.

The US president linked the planned strikes to Iran’s alleged downing of an American AH-64 Apache helicopter, describing the aircraft as a highly advanced military machine.

Trump said the United States had the right to respond, stating that the reported incident justified further action against Tehran.

The latest remarks come amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, with fears growing over a broader regional escalation.
