RABAT, Morocco – In a significant move to advance a definitive solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, a high-level consultative meeting was held this Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Royal Cabinet. Chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s esteemed Advisors, Mr. Taib Fassi Fihri, Mr. Omar Azziman, and Mr. Fouad Ali El Himma, the meeting gathered the heads of all national parties represented in both Houses of Parliament.
The session was convened by direct order of His Majesty the King, underscoring the monarchy’s pivotal role in steering the nation’s strategic direction. The Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad were also in attendance, highlighting the meeting’s national and diplomatic importance.
A Directive for Detail and Sovereignty
The meeting was dedicated to a critical national priority: the updating and detailed formulation of the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative. This directive follows the Royal Decision announced by King Mohammed VI in His historic speech on October 31, and comes in direct execution of the momentum generated by the recent adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797.
The Advisors emphasized that this process is firmly anchored within the framework of Morocco’s full sovereignty and territorial integrity, aligning with the Kingdom’s unwavering constants.
Embodying a Participatory and Inclusive Approach
This landmark gathering is a testament to His Majesty the King’s steadfast commitment to a governance model built on broad consultation and inclusive dialogue, especially when addressing issues of paramount national importance.
In this spirit, the Royal Advisors conveyed the Sovereign’s desire to actively consult with the nation’s political forces. They extended a formal invitation to all participating parties to submit their organizations’ detailed visions and proposals to enrich the updated autonomy plan, ensuring it reflects a broad national consensus.
Unanimous Political Support for the Royal Vision
The leaders of the political parties present unanimously welcomed the positive diplomatic developments, particularly the international recognition encapsulated in the recent UNSC resolution. They expressed profound pride in the Royal Decision to involve the nation’s political bodies and vital forces in this historic endeavor.
The party leaders lauded the initiative’s core objectives, as articulated by His Majesty the King: to secure the safe return of our fellow Moroccans from the Tindouf camps, reunite them with their families, and enable them to build their future while contributing to the management of their local affairs within the fold of a united and prosperous Morocco.
Furthermore, they reaffirmed their unwavering commitment and full support for the tireless diplomatic efforts undertaken by His Majesty. They celebrated the international community’s recognition, through Resolution 2797, of the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as a realistic, credible, and achievable solution and the serious and exclusive basis for UN-sponsored negotiations.
A Pledge for Prompt and Constructive Contribution
In response to this generous royal invitation, the leaders of the political parties pledged their full cooperation. They committed to expediting the process and submitting their comprehensive memoranda and detailed proposals on the updated autonomy initiative to His Majesty the King as soon as possible, demonstrating a united national front in support of the Kingdom’s legitimate rights and territorial integrity.
