PM Shehbaz Stands with Iran Against Israeli Aggression, Unveils Maritime Vision at PIMEC

Islamabad –  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s unequivocal condemnation of Israel’s recent attacks on Iran and expressed solidarity with the Iranian government and people during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam on Monday.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025), saw the premier reaffirm Pakistan’s diplomatic support, recalling his recent conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. “Pakistan will continue to stand with Iran at all forums, including the UN Security Council,” Sharif said, denouncing Israeli aggression as a violation of international law.

Maritime Ambitions Take Center Stage

Earlier, while inaugurating the soft launch of PIMEC 2025, the prime minister outlined an ambitious roadmap to position Pakistan as a regional maritime hub.

“With over 1,000 kilometres of coastline and strategic sea routes, Pakistan holds immense untapped potential in the trillion-dollar blue economy,” Sharif declared. He noted that coastal trade already contributes $7 billion annually, stressing that further development could be transformative.

Praising the Pakistan Navy’s role in national security and initiatives like the multinational AMAN Exercise, the PM highlighted the need for public-private collaboration to boost maritime infrastructure. Drawing parallels with Japan’s maritime success, he urged innovation and investment to harness Pakistan’s maritime advantages.

A Call for Action

Sharif concluded with a rallying cry for stakeholders to seize the moment: “The time has come to take the lead—let’s turn our waters into engines of sustainable growth.”

The event, organized by the Pakistan Navy and Ministry of Maritime Affairs, saw high-level participation, reflecting growing interest in the country’s maritime prospects.
