DUBAI – Yemen’s Armed Forces have initiated a large-scale military operation targeting Houthi combat elements and military infrastructure along several active frontlines, a military spokesperson announced on Saturday.
Operation Launched in Response to Repeated Aggression
Army spokesperson Colonel Majed Al Nazili confirmed that the operation was conducted across multiple axes of contact with Houthi forces. He stated that the offensive was a direct and necessary response to the Houthi group’s continued attacks against Yemeni troops and civilian populations.
Unified Command Structure Evident in Coordinated Action
According to Al Nazili, the operation showcased a high level of inter-front coordination, reflecting the effectiveness of a unified command-and-control framework within the armed forces. This integration, he noted, has significantly enhanced the military’s operational capabilities.
Army Vows Retaliation Against Future Attacks
The armed forces have issued a firm warning, declaring that any further targeting of its units will be met with “necessary military measures.” The statement underscores the military’s commitment to defending its personnel and deterring hostile actions.
Deadly Houthi Assault on Marib Precedes Army Response
The army’s operation came a day after Houthi forces launched ballistic missiles and drones at displacement camps and residential neighborhoods in the city of Marib on Friday. The attack, reported by the state-run SABA news agency and attributed to local authorities, resulted in at least two fatalities and left 14 individuals wounded.
