ISLAMABAD: The State of Qatar has strongly rejected online reports claiming that Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani had declared that the United States and Iran had failed to reach an agreement, describing the reports as “false and misleading” and accusing their promoters of deliberately misrepresenting his remarks.

In an official statement, Qatar’s International Media Office said that the Prime Minister’s comments had been deliberately distorted and circulated through online accounts seeking to undermine diplomatic initiatives and fuel regional tensions.

Clarifying the Prime Minister’s actual position, the office stated: “His Excellency stated today that both sides are continuing to work towards a deal.”

The Qatari authorities expressed concern over attempts to mischaracterise the ongoing diplomatic discussions, describing such actions as deeply irresponsible. The statement further suggested that those spreading misleading claims were serving interests that benefit from continued conflict and instability in the region.

Qatar Reaffirms Its Role as a Diplomatic Mediator

Reaffirming Doha’s commitment to regional peace and stability, the International Media Office emphasised that Qatari officials remain in close coordination with both Washington and Tehran to support ongoing negotiations and facilitate progress towards an agreement.

Qatar has established itself as an important diplomatic intermediary, maintaining working relations with Western governments and regional powers. Its mediation efforts have played a significant role in facilitating dialogue and supporting diplomatic engagement in several sensitive regional disputes, including those involving the United States and Iran.

Diplomatic Efforts Continue to Prevent Regional Escalation

The statement comes at a critical time as diplomatic engagement continues between Washington and Tehran, with regional partners working to reduce tensions, encourage constructive dialogue and prevent further escalation.

Although Qatar did not disclose further details about the negotiations, its clarification underscored that diplomatic channels remain active and that both sides are continuing their efforts to reach an understanding.

Doha’s latest statement reinforces Qatar’s commitment to constructive diplomacy, regional stability and peaceful solutions through dialogue, while rejecting misinformation that could complicate sensitive international negotiations.
