Islamabad – In a swift show of geopolitical solidarity, Russian President Vladimir Putin has personally endorsed Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, offering Moscow’s full weight as a strategic partner during Tehran’s hour of crisis.

A Message of “Unwavering Support”

Following the death of the previous Supreme Leader in what Iranian officials describe as coordinated US-Israeli strikes, Putin moved quickly to reinforce the Moscow-Tehran axis. In a formal message to Ayatollah Khamenei, the Kremlin leader sought to eliminate any doubt about where Russia stands amid the escalating turmoil.

“I would like to reaffirm our unwavering support for Tehran and solidarity with our Iranian friends,” Putin stated, emphasizing the depth of the bilateral relationship. He further assured the new Iranian leader that “Russia has been and will remain a reliable partner” to the Islamic Republic.

Acknowledging a Nation Under Fire

Putin’s message went beyond standard diplomatic courtesy, acknowledging the specific and severe pressures now facing Iran. The Russian president directly referenced the ongoing conflict, framing Khamenei’s ascent to power as a burden requiring significant personal fortitude.

“At a time when Iran is confronting armed aggression, your tenure in this high position will undoubtedly require great courage and dedication,” the Russian leader wrote, positioning himself as a key ally standing by Tehran’s side as it navigates this volatile transition.
