CASABLANCA — King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful (Amir Al Mouminine), performed the Eid Al-Adha prayer on Wednesday at the Ahl Fès Mosque in the Mechouar district of Rabat, the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol, and Chancellery announced.

The solemn prayer was broadcast live on national radio and television starting at 10:30 a.m. Upon his arrival, the sovereign reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard, which rendered the honors.

Following the prayer, heads of Islamic diplomatic missions accredited to Morocco greeted the King and extended their Eid wishes. In keeping with the tradition of Prophet Mohammed, King Mohammed VI then performed the ritual sacrifice, as artillery shots were fired to mark the sacred occasion. The mosque’s imam subsequently carried out the second sacrifice.

Later at the Royal Palace, the King received Eid greetings from Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid, as well as from the Head of Government, the speakers of both houses of Parliament, senior judicial officials, heads of constitutional bodies, and a number of high-ranking civil and military figures.
