  • $700 Million Skyscraper Signals New Era of Urban Growth and International Confidence

Morocco — Morocco has marked a major milestone in its economic and urban development journey with the opening of the iconic Mohammed VI Tower, a $700 million skyscraper that reflects the Kingdom’s growing global stature and forward-looking ambitions.

Rising 55 stories above the skyline and reaching 820 feet, the tower is now among Africa’s tallest buildings. Its inauguration highlights Morocco’s commitment to world-class infrastructure, investment attraction, and sustainable urban modernization under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.

A Symbol of Modern Morocco

Inspired by the image of a rocket on its launchpad, the Mohammed VI Tower represents innovation, progress, and national confidence.

The landmark development includes:

  • A luxury Waldorf Astoria hotel
  • Premium office spaces
  • Retail outlets and restaurants
  • High-end residential apartments
  • Panoramic views of Rabat, Salé, and the Atlantic Ocean

The tower is expected to generate approximately 450 direct jobs and 3,500 indirect employment opportunities, delivering a strong boost to the local economy.

Driving Investment and Employment

Constructed over eight years with the participation of more than 2,500 workers from over a dozen countries, the project demonstrates Morocco’s ability to deliver complex, internationally competitive mega-projects.

Its successful completion reinforces Morocco’s growing reputation as a stable and attractive destination for global investors seeking access to African, European, and Middle Eastern markets.

Elevating Rabat and Salé as Global Destinations

Located in Salé, adjacent to the historic capital Rabat, the tower forms part of a wider strategy to position both cities as premier business, tourism, and cultural destinations.

It stands near the renowned Grand Theatre of Rabat, designed by celebrated architect Zaha Hadid, further strengthening the region’s international cultural appeal.

The development is expected to draw new tourism flows and business activity to areas historically overshadowed by other Moroccan cities.

Tourism Growth Ahead of FIFA World Cup 2030

Already the most visited country in Africa, Morocco continues to expand its tourism sector as it prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

With global travelers increasingly prioritizing safe, dynamic, and culturally rich destinations, Morocco is well-positioned to capitalize on rising demand through strategic investments such as the Mohammed VI Tower.

A Vision Rooted in African Leadership

The project was conceived by Othmane Benjelloun, chairman of Bank of Africa, one of the continent’s most influential financial institutions.

The tower reflects Morocco’s expanding soft power and economic leadership across Africa and the wider region, where the Kingdom continues to strengthen ties through finance, infrastructure, diplomacy, and trade.

Morocco’s Future Rising Higher

Now featured on Morocco’s 200-dirham banknote, the Mohammed VI Tower stands not only as an architectural landmark but also as a national symbol of progress.

As Morocco advances its modernization agenda, diversifies its economy, and deepens international partnerships, the tower serves as a powerful reminder that the Kingdom’s future is rising higher than ever before.
