Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, met with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen as part of his bilateral diplomatic meetings in Geneva.
Referring to the joint talks in the last few months, Amirabdollahian said: “We have seen progress in issues of mutual interest as a result of the talks and consultations. We have also made progress in some consular issues. We are ready to continue talks and cooperation within the framework of common interests.”
Touching on some areas of bilateral cooperation in the economic and commercial fields, Amirabdollahian announced Iran’s readiness to develop this cooperation and said it is possible to strengthen the collaboration of the two countries’ private sectors given the mutual interests and capacities.
Amirabdollahian explained Iran’s position regarding the developments in Ukraine and the Red Sea, supporting a political solution to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.
He considered the continuation of the Gaza crisis as the root cause of the instability in the Red Sea.
He demanded pressure on the Zionist regime to stop the war against Gaza and the genocide of Palestinians.
The top Iranian diplomat called for the activation of the political consultations committee of the two countries at the level of the senior political directors of the two countries’ foreign ministries, considering the various issues of interest to the two nations.
He evaluated the measures of the Danish government to prevent the repetition of insults to Islamic sanctities as an essential step in the right direction. Amirabdollahian, referring to the special situation of an Iranian child in Denmark, asked his Danish counterpart to try to return this child to his parents based on a humanitarian approach.
Rasmussen, for his part, expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and welcomed it, considering it necessary and valuable to conduct these talks within the framework of common bilateral issues.
Referring to some regional crises, including Ukraine, Palestine, and the Red Sea, he stated Denmark’s willingness to consult and exchange views on these issues with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The top Danish diplomat stressed the need to continue trying to find a political solution in Gaza and said: “It is necessary to prevent a humanitarian disaster.”
