HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister thanked by the Secretary-General of the Gulf Press Union

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today received a cable of thanks from the Secretary-General of the Gulf Press Union (GPU), Isa Al Shaiji.

The secretary-general emphasised that GPU will enhance the cooperation among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. 

The secretary-general conveyed the greetings and appreciation on behalf of GPU and its members to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his support of the establishment of the GPU.

Al Shaiji expressed that His Royal Highness’s support of the Kingdom’s journalism role in the country’s development is a source of determination for the members of the GPU.

Al Shaiji highlighted that the establishment of the GPU and the declaration of Manama as the Capital of Arab Media 2024 signifies the Arab region’s recognition of Bahrain’s longstanding cultural and media history. 

Al Shaiji noted that the selection of Bahrain for the headquarters of the GPU affirmed the distinguished media and cultural contributions of the Kingdom to joint Gulf efforts and its many initiatives towards integration between the GCC countries. 

The secretary-general expressed his appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his support to the press, media, and journalists in carrying out their duties responsibly and professionally to achieve desired goals.
