- US President Says Proposed Agreement Explicitly Bars Iran from Obtaining Nuclear Weapons
WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump has strongly dismissed media reports suggesting that the nuclear agreement currently under negotiation with Iran fails to address Tehran’s nuclear activities.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump criticized reports by CNN and other media organizations, asserting that the proposed deal clearly contains provisions preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
“Fake News CNN said today, routinely, that my Iran Nuclear Deal doesn’t talk about Nuclear, when actually it states, very clearly, that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” Trump wrote.
Trump Defends Scope of Agreement
The US president further argued that nuclear issues constitute a central component of the proposed framework.
“It then goes on, in very strong and lengthy detail, to discuss various other aspects of Nuclear. In fact, that’s what most of the agreement is about,” Trump stated, while also criticizing media coverage of the negotiations.
His remarks came amid ongoing public debate over the content and objectives of the talks between Washington and Tehran.
Iranian Officials Maintain Position on Negotiations
Iranian officials, meanwhile, have repeatedly stated that the current discussions with the United States are not focused on negotiating Tehran’s nuclear program.
According to Iranian representatives, the talks concern a broader bilateral memorandum and do not involve direct negotiations over Iran’s nuclear activities.
Diplomatic Efforts Continue
The latest exchange highlights the differing public narratives surrounding the negotiations as both sides continue diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and establishing a framework for future engagement.
Observers note that the substance of any final agreement and its treatment of nuclear-related issues will remain a key point of international scrutiny in the coming months.
