Rabat – The Republic of Côte d’Ivoire has reaffirmed its steadfast support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire national territory, including the Moroccan Sahara.

This position was reiterated in a Joint Communiqué issued following talks held on Thursday in Rabat between Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, and Nialé Kaba, Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, during her first working visit to the Kingdom.

During the meeting, the head of Ivorian diplomacy reaffirmed her country’s consistent and unwavering support for Morocco’s sovereignty over all its territories, including the Sahara region. She also reiterated Côte d’Ivoire’s backing of Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as a credible and realistic solution to the regional dispute.

In this context, Côte d’Ivoire welcomed the historic adoption by the United Nations Security Council, on October 31, 2025, of Resolution 2797, which endorses the Moroccan Autonomy Plan within the framework of Morocco’s sovereignty as the only serious, credible, and lasting basis for reaching a political solution to the Sahara issue.

For his part, Bourita expressed Morocco’s deep appreciation for Côte d’Ivoire’s clear and unwavering position in support of the Kingdom’s national cause. He stressed that the opening of a Consulate General of Côte d’Ivoire in Laayoune on February 18, 2020, reflects the depth of the strategic partnership and the strong bonds of brotherhood between the two countries.

The discussions also underscored the shared commitment of Rabat and Abidjan to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and reinforce their longstanding partnership across various sectors.
