- Director AHTC Karachi Urges Citizens to Verify Recruitment Agencies Before Seeking Jobs Abroad
KARACHI: Director of the Federal Investigation Agency’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) Karachi, Muhammad Ajmal, has urged Pakistani citizens to exercise extreme caution when seeking employment opportunities abroad and to verify the credentials of overseas employment promoters before making any financial commitments.
Speaking during a detailed interaction with media representatives, Muhammad Ajmal emphasized that individuals planning to work overseas should ensure that the recruitment agency they approach is duly licensed and authorized by the relevant government authorities to recruit and process employment visas for Pakistani workers.
He advised prospective job seekers to carefully examine all legal documents, registration certificates, and official licenses of overseas employment promoters to protect themselves from fraud and exploitation.
FIA Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Recruitment Networks
The Director revealed that the FIA has arrested several unauthorized agents involved in illegally sending Pakistani citizens abroad through fraudulent means. He said these individuals were operating without the required government authorization and were deceiving job seekers with false promises of overseas employment.
According to Muhammad Ajmal, investigations have uncovered that many of these agents use sophisticated computer software to forge educational certificates, employment documents, and other official records to facilitate illegal visa applications. They also charge victims exorbitant amounts for these fraudulent services.
Muhammad Ajmal noted that the majority of victims belong to underprivileged families who dream of securing better employment opportunities abroad to improve their standard of living.
“These hardworking individuals hope to provide quality education for their children and siblings, arrange the marriages of their sisters, and build a better future for their families,” he said. “Unfortunately, fraudulent agents exploit these aspirations for financial gain.”
He added that such criminal networks not only destroy the careers and futures of innocent applicants but also shatter the hopes and financial stability of entire families.
Zero Tolerance for Human Traffickers and Fraudsters
Reaffirming the FIA’s commitment to combating human trafficking and visa fraud, Muhammad Ajmal issued a strong warning to illegal recruitment agents operating in Karachi.
He said those involved in fraudulent overseas employment schemes should immediately cease their illegal activities or face strict legal action.
“There will be no room for illegal recruitment networks during my tenure. The FIA will continue its nationwide crackdown against human traffickers, document forgers, and unauthorized agents to protect Pakistani citizens from exploitation and ensure that overseas employment takes place only through lawful and transparent channels,” he stated.
He also appealed to the public to report any suspicious recruitment activities to the FIA and to rely only on licensed overseas employment promoters approved by the Government of Pakistan.
