- Tehran Raises Concerns Over Commitments as Mediated Dialogue Stalls
BURGENSTOCK, Switzerland — The Iranian delegation has decided not to proceed with the next phase of four-party negotiations in the Swiss resort of Burgenstock following remarks made by US President Donald Trump, Russia’s Tasnim news agency reported.
The talks, involving Iran, the United States, and mediators Pakistan and Qatar, were focused on implementing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding aimed at advancing diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington.
Iran Calls for Fulfillment of Commitments
According to a source cited by Tasnim, the parties continued exchanging messages through Qatari and Pakistani mediators; however, no breakthrough has been achieved so far.
During the discussions, the Iranian delegation reportedly urged Washington to accelerate the unfreezing of Iranian assets and allow the issuance of permits for Iranian oil exports.
Tehran also raised objections over what it described as US violations of commitments under the memorandum, stressing that future negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program would depend on adherence to the agreed terms.
Technical Consultations Expected to Face Delay
Earlier, a source told media that further technical consultations scheduled for June 22 under the US-Iran memorandum were not expected to take place.
The latest development highlights renewed challenges in the diplomatic process, as mediators continue efforts to keep communication channels open between Tehran and Washington.
