ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has strongly condemned the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla by Israeli occupying forces in international waters, describing the action as unlawful and expressing grave concern over the reported detention and mistreatment of humanitarian workers onboard.

In an official statement, Pakistan denounced the arbitrary detention of activists participating in the humanitarian mission and called for the immediate release of all individuals being held.

The statement noted that those reportedly detained include Pakistani humanitarian activist Saad Edhi.

Pakistan emphasized that the safety, dignity, and fundamental rights of humanitarian workers must be fully protected in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.

The government further urged the international community to take immediate steps to ensure the protection of all detained activists and to uphold international legal norms governing humanitarian missions and activities in international waters.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan stated that it remains in close coordination with Pakistani diplomatic missions in the region to facilitate the safe return of any Pakistani nationals affected by the incident.

Pakistan reiterated its continued support for humanitarian efforts and stressed the importance of respecting international humanitarian law and the rights of civilians and aid workers operating in conflict-related situations.
