Sialkot – H.E. Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, paid an official visit to the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Tuesday. Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by Mr. Murad Arshad, Senior Vice President of SCCI, along with several members of the Chamber’s Executive Committee.
Recognition of Sialkot’s Industrial Potential
Addressing the SCCI members, Ambassador Oumer commended Sialkot’s remarkable industrial capabilities and underscored the vast potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade and investment between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
Competitive Advantages for Pakistani Investors
The Ambassador elaborated on Ethiopia’s unique value proposition for Pakistani investors, highlighting the country’s large and growing population, skilled labor force, access to affordable green energy, and strategic regional and global market integration. He noted that these advantages are reinforced by a favorable investment climate, which includes a range of incentives and tax exemptions introduced through Ethiopia’s Homegrown Economic Reforms. These reforms have successfully addressed macroeconomic imbalances while boosting productivity and job creation across the nation.
Sectoral Opportunities and Invitation to Explore
Ambassador Oumer urged the business community to visit Ethiopia and explore expanding opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, mining, tourism, and information and communications technology (ICT).
Commitment to Strengthening Business Ties
In his remarks, Mr. Syed Ahtesham Mazhar thanked the Ambassador for his visit and expressed confidence that Sialkot’s industrial strength would play a pivotal role in fostering stronger business-to-business relations between the two countries.
