  • Royal Guidelines Catalyze Interagency Mobilization to Protect Citizens and Mitigate Seasonal Risks

Rabat – In strict implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Ministry of the Interior, in close coordination with the various government departments, services, and institutions concerned, has stepped up its nationwide mobilization to anticipate and mitigate the potential impacts of weather disturbances expected during the 2025–2026 winter season.

Morocco face the seasonal challenges.

In accordance with the High Royal Guidelines, the Walis of the regions and the Governors of provinces and prefectures have been instructed to ensure continuous and meticulous monitoring of meteorological conditions, strengthen coordination among all stakeholders, and implement proactive and preventive measures aimed at safeguarding citizens and limiting potential damage. This was affirmed in a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior.

To this end, a central monitoring and watch center has been activated at the Ministry of the Interior, alongside the establishment and operationalization of provincial monitoring and vigilance committees. These mechanisms form part of the national plan to mitigate the effects of cold waves during the current winter season.

The national plan is characterized by updated field data, an expanded scope of intervention, and diversified operational tools, enabling more targeted and effective actions while enhancing overall response efficiency in the affected areas.

The plan targets wide segments of the population living in rural and mountainous areas across 28 prefectures and provinces, with the objective of providing essential assistance and support to citizens facing difficult conditions resulting from adverse weather phenomena. It also ensures continuous field support, tailored to the specific characteristics of each region and the nature of the risks likely to arise during this period.

Within this framework, the Ministry of the Interior, through its central and territorial services and in coordination with the relevant departments, has reinforced intervention capacities through sustained field monitoring, the regular supply of basic necessities and heating materials to affected zones, and the pre-positioning of logistical resources near roads susceptible to closure to ensure rapid clearance if needed.

These measures further include the organization of food aid distribution operations, the provision of blankets and firewood to vulnerable populations, and the guarantee of immediate assistance to individuals in critical or emergency situations. Efforts also extend to maintaining road and telecommunications connectivity, as well as ensuring the availability of fodder to protect livestock in impacted areas.

Reaffirming the full mobilization of all public authorities and services in faithful execution of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Ministry of the Interior stressed its unwavering commitment to alleviating the hardships faced by citizens, ensuring the safety of people and their property, and effectively addressing challenges arising from weather-related disruptions throughout the winter season.

The Ministry further called on all citizens, particularly those residing in areas exposed to severe weather conditions, to exercise heightened vigilance and strictly adhere to safety guidelines issued by the competent authorities. It also urged the public to avoid unnecessary risks that could endanger lives or property.

Additionally, the Ministry advised travelers to exercise caution, avoid vulnerable routes and areas at risk of disruption, and follow official guidance in light of potentially severe weather conditions, in order to help minimize risks and ensure the safety of all.
