Morocco Stands Firm in Support of Qatar at Arab-Islamic Summit Preparations

Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita

RABAT – Morocco reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to Arab unity and international law during the preparatory meeting of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers in Doha, ahead of the upcoming emergency Arab-Islamic Summit. The summit was convened following Israel’s September 9 strike on a residential compound in Doha, an attack widely condemned as a violation of sovereignty and international law.

The Kingdom of Morocco was represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita, accompanied by Mohamed Ait Ouali, Morocco’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, as well as Morocco’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mohamed Setri.

The Moroccan delegation actively participated in the drafting of a resolution that will be submitted to the Summit, underscoring Rabat’s principled stance in favor of regional peace, security, and solidarity. Morocco’s foreign policy, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, consistently advocates for dialogue, respect for sovereignty, and the rejection of aggression against states and civilians.

In line with this vision, Morocco strongly condemned the Israeli attack, describing it as a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of international law and humanitarian principles. Rabat expressed full solidarity with Doha in defending its security and the safety of its citizens and residents.

The Israeli strike resulted in the deaths of at least six people, including civilians and members of Hamas, in what Qatar and much of the international community labeled a “cowardly act.” Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani personally denounced the attack in a call with US President Donald Trump, stressing that it was a “reckless criminal act and a clear violation of international law.”

The Kingdom of Morocco’s firm and balanced position highlights its unwavering support for just causes in the Arab and Islamic world, while reinforcing its role as a responsible voice for stability, peace, and cooperation in the region.
