Uzbek Ambassador, SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan Discuss Strengthening Economic and Industrial Ties
Islamabad – His Excellency Mr. Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, met with Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, in Islamabad today to explore ways to enhance bilateral economic and industrial cooperation.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tukhtaev expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s steadfast support and emphasized the need to expand collaboration in key sectors, including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, energy, and food processing. He highlighted Uzbekistan’s keen interest in deepening economic engagement with Pakistan, particularly through joint ventures and investment initiatives.
SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Uzbekistan in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of boosting industrial cooperation and foreign investment. He noted the government’s target of increasing bilateral trade to $2 billion and stated that concrete steps were being taken to achieve this goal.
Enhanced Connectivity
The recent launch of direct flights between Tashkent and Islamabad (effective June 14) was welcomed as a significant step toward improving people-to-people and business ties.
The meeting concluded with a mutual resolve to transform diplomatic relations into stronger economic partnerships, focusing on trade, industrial collaboration, and investment opportunities. Both officials expressed optimism about future cooperation, underscoring the shared commitment to regional economic growth.
