UN Security Council to hold meeting on India, Pakistan situation on May 5

Pakistan has officially requested emergency closed consultations in the UN Security Council

ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday instructed Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad  Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations to urgently pursue convening a session of the UN Security Council.

According to a Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan has decided to formally brief the Security Council on the escalating regional tensions, particularly India’s aggressive posturing and provocative statements.

The briefing will specifically address:

  • India’s inflammatory rhetoric, which risks destabilizing South Asia.
  • New Delhi’s unilateral move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, a violation of international law.
  • The broader implications of India’s actions on regional and global peace and security.

This diplomatic initiative underscores Pakistan’s commitment to presenting factual, evidence-based concerns to the international community and seeking multilateral redressal of disputes.
