NEW YORK – US President-elect Donald Trump told NBC in an interview that he had not yet spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin, but he does not rule this out.
“I think we’ll speak,” he said.
The president-elect went on to say that he had already talked to approximately 70 world leaders, including Vladimir Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump added that he and outgoing President Joe Biden had agreed to have a dinner together soon.
The United States held its presidential election on November 5. The official results haven’t been announced yet but according to Fox News, Trump has received about 300 electoral votes, while a candidate needs 270 votes to win. Trump has already declared himself the 47th US president. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris conceded defeat in the presidential race.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Donald Trump on becoming the US president-elect at the plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club on November 7. “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on his victory in the US presidential election. I have already said that we will work with any head of state who is trusted by the American people,” the Russian leader said.
