Rwanda’s Remarkable Transformation Highlighted in Diplomatic Meeting in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador-designate of Switzerland to Pakistan H.E. Stéphane Rey paid a courtesy call on H.E. Fatou Harerimana, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan, in Islamabad, where the two diplomats discussed bilateral relations and opportunities for enhanced cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on Rwanda–Switzerland relations, with particular emphasis on avenues for strengthening collaboration and promoting mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries.

Ambassador-designate Stéphane Rey commended Rwanda’s remarkable transformation and development journey, particularly its achievements in tourism, economic growth and improving livelihoods following the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

He acknowledged Rwanda’s sustained efforts to rebuild the country, strengthen national institutions and create new opportunities for its people, describing its development experience as notable progress in reconstruction and national advancement.

The meeting also underscored the importance of international cooperation, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchanges in supporting Rwanda’s continued economic transformation and strengthening its engagement with global partners.

Rwanda’s progress continues to enhance its profile as an emerging destination for investment, tourism and international partnerships, reflecting the country’s strong focus on sustainable development and inclusive economic growth.
