- Moscow mayor says emergency crews are responding at sites where drone debris was reported
MOSCOW, October 6: Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said Tuesday that Russian air defense forces had neutralized 18 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) approaching the Russian capital.
“Eighteen UAVs have been destroyed. Emergency responders are working at the sites where debris fell,” Sobyanin said in a post on his Max channel.
The mayor did not provide further details about the origin of the drones or report any casualties in his initial statement.
57 Drones Reportedly Intercepted
According to TASS calculations based on Sobyanin’s previous updates, Russian air defenses had intercepted a total of 57 UAVs approaching Moscow over a period of approximately four hours.
Emergency services remained deployed at locations where drone debris was reported to have fallen, as authorities assessed the situation and continued monitoring the airspace around the capital.
