On February 17, our troops, in a successful operation, liberated the city of Odeoka, which had been turned into a strong fortification by the Kiev government. The situation on the battlefield proves that western efforts to “defeat” Russia have failed. (Russian Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Albert Khorev)

Respected ladies and gentlemen, it is a great pleasure to meet you at the Embassy of Russia on the occasion of the press briefing!

In those days, we want to commemorate the ten-year anniversary of the unconstitutional uprising in Ukraine on February 22-21, 2014 – the rise of the “Euromaidan” was the expulsion of legally elected President Viktor Yanukovych, who supported friendly relations with Russia – while western countries encouraged the “Euromaidan” to take Ukraine away from Russia.

I would like to remind you that at that time Ukraine had the goal of integrating its trade and economic obligations under the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Agreement on Association with the European Union. It was possible to avoid violent incidents by arriving at a mutually acceptable consensus. But the West took the other route and extremist nationalist authorities actively supported coming to power.

Exactly 10 years ago, there was an opportunity to maintain the situation in the legal arena. On February 21, 2014, Ukraine’s president signed an agreement with opposition leaders to resolve the country’s political crisis, with plans to form a national unity government, pass a constitutional amendment and then hold general elections — a deal guaranteed by the foreign ministers of Germany and Poland at the time and representatives of the French foreign ministries. Yet the very next day, the opposition arbitrarily announced the president’s resignation and formation of his own government. However, there was an open revolt against the Constitution, while the United States and the European Union, including the so-called guarantor countries, ignored it and actively supported it as it is now clear.

The uprising in Kyiv brought deep divisions in Ukrainian society and laid the foundation for a civil war. Ukrainian militants directed all their forces to seize power in the rest of the country, including violence, violations of the rights of the local population, calls for a ban on the Russian language, opposition parties and organizations, the closure of unwanted media, and the promotion of Nazi propaganda. Many parts of Ukraine did not want to submit to the new anti-Russian regime. For example, in March 2014, as a result of a plebiscite, the population of the Crimean Peninsula voted to re-integrate with the Federation of Russia, and in May the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics were announced, which later joined Russia. Since the beginning.

Russia has never ruled out a political and diplomatic solution to the problem. It was the Kiev government and its President Zelensky that passed a law banning negotiations with the Russian leadership in 2022. In order to deceive the world community, Western countries are constantly promoting Zelensky’s “peace formula”, which does not reflect reality, but rather a set of ultimatum demands, including an unconditional refusal of the struggle, the withdrawal of troops from the areas of Donbass, Crimea, Zaporozai and Khairsan, payment of compensation, and blaming themselves before international tribunals. By forcing their point of view on others, Ukraine and the Western countries standing behind it undermine the importance of peace initiatives by other countries, including China, Brazil and several African states, with many rational proposals that Moscow supports.

Under the pretext of peace talks, Western countries hypocritically continue to pump Ukraine with weapons. In the meantime, the widespread corruption of the Ukrainian leadership is ignored, which cannot ensure the surveillance of the weapons obtained, as a result of which these weapons are spreading around the world and it cannot be ruled out that they will fall into the hands of global terrorist organizations. In just two years, western countries allocated nearly $2 trillion for Ukraine, while the European Union provided less than $80 billion for seven years of aid to countries in the global south. It is important to understand that arming Ukraine is a profitable business plan for the United States: by evacuating their arms warehouses for ukraine’s armed forces, European countries are forced to buy weapons from the United States at very high prices. Western countries continue to exploit the “children’s theme.” On February 2, Foreign Minister Canada issued a decree on the so-called “International Alliance on the Return of Ukrainian Children” – the Russophobe forces are trying to push for humanitarian issues by promoting this narrative. In fact, Western leaders are not interested in the fate of children in Ukraine. Since 2014, more than 800 children have been killed or injured in the Don Bass region as a result of the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces, and in 2023 alone, 51 children were killed in the border areas of Russia. Have western countries condemned and addressed these crimes of the Kiev government?

of the Ukrainian crisis, Russia has made the most active efforts to resolve it through peaceful, diplomatic means. On February 12, 2015, with the help of our country and other international mediators, a set of steps to implement the Minsk Agreements were signed, which provided an opportunity for a political solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine and the reintegration of the Donbass region into Ukraine. The UN Security Council unanimously approved the document through Resolution 2202.

At the same time, by sending arms and advisers to Ukraine, western countries were jointly turning Ukraine into a battlefield against Russia from 2014 to 2022.

As Russian President Vladimir Putin said recently in a conversation with American journalist Takar Carlson, western countries benefited from the “Minsk Agreements” to increase Ukraine’s militancy – by doing everything possible to resolve the issue peacefully and in the wake of a direct threat to its security, Russia cannot take any other option but to launch military operations. was.

The correctness of Russia’s position has been proved by prestigious international documents. On January 31, the United Nations International Court of Justice in its final ruling on Ukraine’s claim against Russia refused to consider our country a “state sponsor” of terrorism and declare it an “aggressive state”. The court also rejected russia’s allegations of discrimination against Tatar Muslims living in Crimea.

Without achieving any success on the battlefield, the Kiev government continues to carry out terrorist attacks on civilian installations and social facilities on Russian soil, killing civilians. On February 3, Ukrainian forces, using American rocket launchers, shelled the city of Lesichansk. 28 civilians were killed in the attack. Un Secretary-General Guterres condemned the crime. But none of the western leaders have done the same. On February 15, Ukrainian armed forces attacked residential neighborhoods in Belgorod. Seven people, including a child, were killed. At the height of the abuse, a Russian IL-76 aircraft carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war was shot down by a U.S.-made rocket near Belgorod in late January this year. All of them and the entire crew of the plane were also killed.

Have western countries condemned and addressed these crimes of the Kiev government? Have they done anything to stop the suffering of Palestinian children in Gaza? Russia does everything it can to ensure the safety of children. Our country has sheltered millions of refugees from Ukraine, including millions of minors who were saving their lives from the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces.

The goals of special military action remain unsolved, that is, to denuclearize Ukraine and to liberate it from Nazi ideology, to remove the security concerns of our country from its soil. Countering Ukraine’s counter-aggression, the Russian armed forces carry out successful military operations, maintain strategic advantages for the entire length of the front line, and continue to advance. On February 17, our troops, in a successful operation, liberated the city of Odeoka, which had been turned into a strong fortification by the Kiev government. The situation on the battlefield proves that western efforts to “defeat” Russia have failed.

Friends, I urge you to make unbiased news and analyze the situation related to Ukraine! I want to emphasize that there are not only Western biased sources on this subject! Thank you for paying attention!
