Hundreds of farmers have started slow marches this morning with their tractors along the A-2 highway from Lleida and along the AP-7 highway, from Girona and Tarragona, towards Barcelona, where they hope to arrive at noon.
The farmers concentrated in Lleida, more than a thousand, have spent the entire night blocking the A-2 highway, near Fondarella, and have left at seven in the morning towards the Catalan capital, with planned stops for supplies at the Panadella, already in the province of Barcelona, and El Bruc.
Concentration of 200 vehicles
For its part, the tractor march from Girona to Barcelona, which began around 8:00 a.m. from Madinyà, where nearly 200 vehicles have gathered, will take place this Wednesday along the AP-7 highway, after negotiating this option with the counterpart of ‘liberating’ the N-II highway.
The farmers from the regions of Tarragona have started from various points, such as Vila-rodona, and the various columns formed will join together after passing through the AP-2 and AP-7, with the expectation of reaching Avenida Diagonal de la Catalan capital around noon.
Fifty tractors have also left from Gurb (Barcelona), at the intersection of the C-17 and C-25 roads, hoping to join other columns that have left the Vallès and Bages regions.
All these marches are complicating circulation on the main roads of Catalonia and will collapse traffic in the metropolitan area when they approach Barcelona.
