- Toronto Expo Connects Ethiopian Coffee Exporters with Canadian Importers, Roasters and Industry Leaders to Expand Direct Trade and Investment
TORONTO: The Global Coffee Expo Canada 2026 brought together Ethiopian coffee exporters, Canadian importers and roasters, business leaders, industry professionals, diplomats and other stakeholders in Toronto to explore new opportunities for expanding direct coffee trade and strengthening commercial partnerships between Ethiopia and Canada.
Organised by the Embassy of Ethiopia in Canada, the expo focused on showcasing the quality and diversity of Ethiopian coffee while creating stronger business-to-business (B2B) connections between Ethiopian exporters and Canada’s growing coffee industry.
Ethiopian Coffee Seeks Greater Access to Canadian Market
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Tewodros Girma highlighted the considerable potential of Ethiopia’s coffee sector and noted that direct coffee trade between Ethiopia and Canada remains relatively modest compared with the size and potential of the Canadian market.
He said Canada has a sophisticated and expanding coffee market, supported by strong consumer interest in premium, single-origin and organic coffee. Against this backdrop, he underscored the international reputation of Ethiopian coffee and the importance of establishing stronger, more direct commercial links between Ethiopian exporters and Canadian buyers.
The Ambassador encouraged closer engagement between businesses from both countries, emphasising that stronger B2B relationships could help create sustainable opportunities across the coffee value chain. Anna Mancini, representing the Coffee Association of Canada, highlighted the significant opportunities presented by Canada’s coffee market and reaffirmed the Association’s willingness to engage with Ethiopian coffee exporters.
She expressed support for greater cooperation aimed at developing new commercial opportunities and strengthening connections between Ethiopian producers and exporters and Canadian importers, roasters and other market participants.
B2B Networking Opens New Commercial Opportunities
The expo provided a dedicated platform for business networking and direct B2B engagement, enabling Ethiopian coffee exporters to meet Canadian importers, roasters and industry stakeholders.

The discussions focused on building long-term commercial relationships, improving market access and identifying opportunities for direct sourcing and cooperation.
The event underscored the potential for Ethiopian coffee to further expand its presence in Canada while strengthening economic and commercial ties between the two countries through trade, investment and private-sector partnerships.
