ISLAMABAD, August 16, 2026: Shifa Foundation has successfully concluded the third cohort of its flagship “NUR of Tomorrow” Youth Internship Programme at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, bringing together students from colleges and universities across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Dr. Abdul Wahab Hassan, Executive Director, Shifa Foundation, emphasised the importance of empowering young people to take an active role in shaping their communities.

“Young people do not need to wait for the future to make a difference; they can begin creating positive change today,” he said.

Building Skills for a Safer and More Responsible Future

The four-day capacity-building programme provided participants with practical knowledge and essential skills designed to support their academic development, future careers and meaningful engagement with society.

The training covered a wide range of areas, including emergency preparedness, first aid, CPR, fire safety, disaster response, mental health awareness, stress management, resilience, communication, teamwork, professionalism, civic responsibility and leadership.

The programme also placed strong emphasis on digital literacy and cyber safety, addressing online privacy, responsible use of artificial intelligence, workplace ethics, personal profile development and safe digital practices.

Through interactive sessions, practical demonstrations and group activities, participants had opportunities to strengthen their communication, teamwork and leadership abilities while gaining hands-on knowledge applicable to everyday life and emergency situations.

Connecting Youth with Experts and Community Service

Participants interacted with healthcare professionals, development practitioners, trainers and subject-matter experts, allowing them to gain practical insights beyond the traditional classroom environment.

The programme encouraged students to embrace volunteerism, social action and community service, while building the confidence and sense of responsibility needed to contribute positively to society.

Youth Action for a Greener Pakistan

Coinciding with International Youth Day 2026, the programme highlighted the vital role of young people in building healthier, safer, more inclusive and sustainable communities.

As part of the initiative, Shifa Foundation also launched a youth-led tree plantation drive, encouraging participants to translate their commitment into practical action for environmental protection, climate resilience and the vision of a Greener Pakistan.
