Pakistan’s Naveed Qamar Chairs International Parliamentary Meeting at Dutch Senate

Karachi: Pakistan’s parliamentary representation received international recognition as Syed Naveed Qamar, President of the meeting, chaired a high-level gathering of parliamentarians at the Senate of the Netherlands in The Hague on August 7.

The meeting brought together around 40 members of parliament from different countries, providing a platform for lawmakers to exchange views and develop strategies on contemporary human rights and equality issues.

MNA Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig also attended the meeting, alongside fellow parliamentarians and members of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. His participation highlighted Pakistan’s engagement in international parliamentary forums and its contribution to global discussions on issues of shared concern.

Syed Naveed Qamar, who chaired the meeting, played a prominent role in facilitating the discussions and bringing together parliamentarians from diverse national and political backgrounds.

The gathering was organized by Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), the Global Equality Caucus (GEC), the Victory Institute and the Council for Global Equality.

The forum focused on exchanging experiences and discussing approaches to advancing equality, human rights and the protection of vulnerable communities in different national and social contexts.

Qamar described the opportunity to chair the international meeting as an honor, noting the importance of parliamentary cooperation in addressing issues of equality and human rights.

The Hague gathering also offered Pakistan an opportunity to showcase its parliamentary engagement on the international stage, with the leadership of Syed Naveed Qamar and the participation of Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig highlighting the country’s active role in multilateral parliamentary forums.
