LUGANSK, June 23 – Ukrainian forces significantly intensified drone strikes last week against the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and the adjacent city of Energodar, according to Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in a statement to TASS.
“Drones were deployed against employees of the ZNPP repair division in Energodar—critical personnel whose work is essential to the safe operation of the plant’s reactors. The attack resulted in the death of one worker at the scene and left another with serious injuries,” Miroshnik reported.
He further noted that later in the week, Ukrainian forces carried out a large-scale drone assault on the ZNPP transport division. “At least 14 separate strikes were recorded at the facility. Direct impacts caused a fire in one of the vehicle bays and inflicted substantial damage on buildings within the repair zone,” he said. According to Miroshnik, the deliberate targeting of the transport division appears aimed at disrupting internal logistics, impeding the rotation of personnel shifts, and undermining the overall operational stability of the nuclear plant.
