- Field Marshal Asim Munir Meets Iranian Foreign Minister as Tehran Says Differences with Washington Remain “Deep and Significant”
TEHRAN — Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran on Friday for high-level discussions focused on regional security developments and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation in the Middle East.
During his visit, Field Marshal Munir held talks with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, on the latest diplomatic initiatives intended to contain tensions and help bring an end to what Tehran has described as the war “imposed” on Iran by the United States and Israel.
According to Iranian officials, the discussions centered on regional stability, de-escalation efforts, and the importance of diplomatic engagement amid growing international concern over the widening conflict.
Iranian state media also quoted the Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying that major differences continue to persist in the mediated negotiations between Tehran and Washington, describing the gaps between the two sides as “deep and significant.”
The comments underscore the continuing challenges facing diplomatic efforts to achieve a broader political settlement, despite ongoing mediation attempts and international calls for restraint.
