RwandAir wins top award as the Best Regional Airline in Africa at the 2025 World Airline Awards
Paris, France – RwandAir solidified its position as a leading African carrier after being named Best Regional Airline in Africa at the prestigious 2025 World Airline Awards, held during the Paris Air Show on June 17. The Kigali-based airline was recognized for its exceptional service, operational excellence, and passenger-focused approach, marking another milestone in its ascent as a key player in continental aviation.
A Triumph for Service Excellence
Organized by Skytrax, the globally respected air transport rating agency, the awards highlighted RwandAir’s dedication to delivering a “professional, considered, and personal” travel experience. Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, commended the airline, stating:

“RwandAir continues to distinguish itself through a clear focus on service attention… The airline has created an experience that stands out in its category as it continues to evolve its regional product with confidence.”
The accolade reflects the airline’s consistent growth in customer satisfaction, with Skytrax noting its increasing popularity among regional travelers.
Award Based on Passenger Feedback
The World Airline Awards are determined through an independent global passenger survey, considered the benchmark for airline quality assessment. This year’s results were drawn from 22.3 million eligible entries (collected between September 2024 and May 2025) across more than 100 nationalities, making it one of the most comprehensive measures of airline performance worldwide.
RwandAir’s Gratitude and Future Ambitions
Following the announcement, RwandAir took to social media to express appreciation:
“We are honored to receive this recognition and grateful to our passengers for their continued trust. Thank you for flying with us—this award is yours too.”
The win reinforces Rwanda’s broader aviation strategy, which has seen the country emerge as a key African travel and logistics hub. Recent developments, including a partnership with Qatar Airways to establish an African cargo hub and a surge in freight volumes in 2024, further underscore the airline’s expanding influence.
Strengthening Africa’s Aviation Landscape
RwandAir’s success at the World Airline Awards highlights its role in elevating Africa’s aviation standards, competing with established carriers while maintaining a strong regional focus. With ongoing investments in fleet expansion, route networks, and customer experience, the airline is well-positioned for further growth in the coming years.
