Bangladesh Envoy: E-Visa Facility to Enhance Bilateral Trade with Pakistan
Lahore – Bangladesh High Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Hussain Khan announced relaxed visa requirements for Pakistani citizens and revealed plans to launch an e-visa system soon, aiming to strengthen trade and cultural ties.
Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), Khan emphasized regular business delegation exchanges to explore opportunities in sectors like Bangladeshi coconut and coal, and Pakistani leather, rice, and pharmaceuticals. He added that direct flights and shipping routes are under consideration to enhance connectivity.
LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad noted the current 718Mbilateraltrade(2023−24),withPakistanenjoyingasurplus,andproposedraisingitto718Mbilateraltrade(2023−24),withPakistanenjoyingasurplus,andproposedraisingitto2B–$10B through deeper collaboration. He urged progress on a free trade agreement (FTA) and highlighted untapped potential in pharmaceuticals, auto parts, and defence cooperation.
The chamber also sought the envoy’s support for a planned 2025 trade delegation to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, targeting meetings with key officials and businesses.
