Ethiopia, Pakistan Finalize Plans for Upcoming Single-Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa

Islamabad, Pakistan – H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of Ethiopia, held a productive meeting with H.E. Jam Kamal Khan, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, on Friday at the Ministry of Commerce in Islamabad. The discussions focused on finalizing arrangements for the upcoming Pakistan Single-Country Exhibition, scheduled for May 15-17, 2025, in Addis Ababa.

The meeting was also attended by H.E. Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Industry, along with senior officials from the Ethiopian Embassy and Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the joint mobilization efforts led by the Ethiopian Embassy, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to encourage Pakistani businesses to participate in the exhibition.

Ambassador Beker highlighted his engagements with major Pakistani business chambers, emphasizing the event’s potential to strengthen trade ties. He noted that Ethiopia is fully prepared to host the Pakistani delegation, which will also participate in the “Invest in Ethiopia” High-Level Business Forum (May 12-13, 2025).

The Ambassador underscored the role of Ethiopian Airlines in facilitating Pakistan’s “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy, enhancing exchanges in trade, technology, health, and education.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan commended the Ambassador’s efforts and stressed the exhibition’s significance in expanding Pakistan’s trade footprint in Ethiopia and Africa. He described the event as a key platform for Pakistani businesses to explore Ethiopia’s market and beyond, fostering long-term economic collaboration.

Both sides agreed on the need for continued cooperation to ensure the exhibition’s success and maximize its impact on bilateral trade relations.
