NEW YORK — The United Nations has commended the generous humanitarian initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for the dispatch of vital humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, as ordered by the Sovereign.
Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, welcomed the gesture, calling it a “significant and timely humanitarian effort” that reflects both generosity and deep compassion.
“We welcome the generosity and the decision taken by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to send substantial humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza,” Dujarric said in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press (MAP).
He highlighted the critical impact of this initiative, especially amid the “catastrophic humanitarian conditions” endured by the civilian population in Gaza.
“People in Gaza are in desperate need of everything — food, medicine, shelter,” Dujarric emphasized. “The humanitarian aid ordered by His Majesty the King arrives at a crucial moment, and we hope it inspires the international community to step up its efforts.”
The latest aid package, consisting of approximately 100 tonnes of essential food and medicines, is targeted toward the most vulnerable segments of the population — especially children, infants, and other at-risk groups.
True to his humanitarian values, His Majesty King Mohammed VI insisted that the assistance be airlifted and delivered urgently and directly to the Palestinian people, ensuring swift and dignified relief for those in need.
As Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, His Majesty has long championed the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people. His leadership in humanitarian diplomacy continues to garner praise globally, reinforcing Morocco’s role as a committed and principled actor in regional peace and solidarity.
The UN spokesperson also reiterated the urgent need for a ceasefire and increased pressure on all parties to prioritize humanitarian access and protection for civilians.
“Initiatives like that of King Mohammed VI are not only generous; they are examples of responsible and moral leadership that we hope others will follow,” Dujarric concluded.
This latest action adds to Morocco’s consistent track record of standing by the Palestinian cause with concrete, impactful support — a reflection of the Kingdom’s enduring values of solidarity and compassion under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
