Islamabad – The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, arrived in Islamabad today on an official visit to strengthen diplomatic and strategic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye. Upon his arrival at the airport, he was warmly received by Additional Secretary (West Asia) Ambassador Syed Ali Asad Gillani, representing the Government of Pakistan.

High-Level Engagements on Mutual Interests

During his stay, Foreign Minister Fidan will hold meetings with senior Pakistani officials, including Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other key figures, to discuss a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues. The talks are expected to cover:

  • Enhanced defense and security cooperation
  • Trade and economic partnerships
  • Collaboration in energy and infrastructure projects
  • Regional stability, including Afghanistan and the Middle East
  • Cultural and educational exchanges

A Testament to Strong Fraternal Ties

The visit underscores the deep-rooted, brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, which are built on a shared history, cultural affinity, and mutual geopolitical interests. Both nations have consistently supported each other on international platforms, including at the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other multilateral forums.

Recent Momentum in Pak-Türkiye Relations

This visit follows recent high-level exchanges, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s past visits to Pakistan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s interactions with Turkish leadership. The two countries have also been working closely under frameworks such as the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), aiming to elevate bilateral trade to $5 billion in the coming years.

Expected Outcomes

Analysts anticipate that the discussions will further solidify collaboration in defense production, counterterrorism efforts, and joint ventures in technology and infrastructure. Additionally, people-to-people ties are likely to be bolstered through enhanced visa facilitation and cultural programs.

Foreign Minister Fidan’s visit reaffirms the “One Nation, Two States” spirit that defines Pakistan-Türkiye relations, signaling a continued commitment to shared prosperity and regional stability.
