The Russian attack on a hypermarket in Kharkiv already leaves 12 dead

The death toll in the Russian attack on Saturday against a hypermarket of the Epicentr chain in Kharkov, in northeastern Ukraine, now rises to twelve and the number of injured to 43, while 16 people are listed as missing .

“As of this morning, we have information that twelve people died as a result of the Russian airstrikes against ‘Epicentr’, of whom ten remain unidentified. The number of injured increased to 43,” the city’s mayor, Igor Terejov, wrote in a message on Telegram. 

For his part, the Minister of the Interior, Igor Klimenko, confirmed these figures and indicated that 16 people are still being sought. He further noted that three of the dead have already been identified.

According to the first reports, which spoke of four dead and 38 wounded, Russian forces attacked the hypermarket, specializing in home improvement and DIY supplies, with two guided aerial bombs.

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, noted on the social network X that more than 200 people could be in the establishment at the time of the attack.

The Minister of the Interior specified in a message on Telegram that it took more than 16 hours to extinguish the fire declared as a result of the Russian attack and added that the fire spread over an area of ​​more than 13,000 square meters.
