
ISLAMABAD – Ambassador to the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC) and Adviser to the Chairman Senate, Ms. Misbah Khar, along with Mr. Tariq bin Waheed, Senior Director-General (SDG) of Protocol, paid a courtesy call on Rear Admiral (Retd.) Fred Senevirathne, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, and Mr. Christy Ruban, Deputy High Commissioner, at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Islamabad.
The visit was aimed at briefing the Sri Lankan envoy on the upcoming ISC Conference, scheduled to be held in Islamabad on 11–12 November 2025, and to formally extend Pakistan’s invitation for the participation of Sri Lankan parliamentary leaders.
Ms. Misbah Khar underscored that the ISC will serve as a unique platform for regional parliaments to engage in constructive dialogue, share experiences, and strengthen multilateral cooperation. She highlighted the significance of Sri Lanka’s active participation, stressing that its contribution would add great value to discussions on shared challenges and opportunities.
High Commissioner Senevirathne warmly welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the deep-rooted and time-tested friendship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. He emphasized Sri Lanka’s strong commitment to parliamentary diplomacy and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts to foster regional dialogue through such high-level engagements.
Both sides reiterated their resolve to further enhance bilateral cooperation in political, diplomatic, and security spheres, while recognizing the ISC as a timely opportunity to broaden mutual understanding and regional solidarity.
