ALULA: Runners from across Saudi Arabia and the world are invited to take part in the third edition of the AlUla Trail Race, which will be held on January 22 and 23 next year.
AlUla Trail Race 2026 offers participants a selection of distances and challenges set against the dramatic landscapes and ancient heritage sites of AlUla, located in the Kingdom’s northwestern province of Madinah.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the race is open to beginners and experienced runners alike.
The race series includes the Kids Run (1.6km) for children aged five to 12, the Sunset Run (3km) for runners aged 13 and above, the 10km trail run, and a 23km distance suited to more experienced participants.
For experienced athletes, the demanding 50km course provides a stern test of ability and endurance, while the 100km ultra trail race is reserved for the most resilient and skilled runners. All routes will finish in Old Town, ensuring an exciting finish for both runners and spectators.
On the first day, runners will arrive to collect their race packs before taking part in the Kids Run and the Sunset Run. Race kits can be collected at the event village, which will be located at the amphitheater in Old Town.
Day Two will host the competitive distances, beginning at sunrise with the 100km, followed by the start of the 50km, the 23km, and the 10km. Medal ceremonies will take place throughout the day as runners cross the finish line.
“Every participant receives the official AlUla Trail Race 2026 pack, including a tote bag, buff, race T-shirt, timing chip, and bib number. Mandatory kit requirements vary by distance; longer routes require additional safety equipment to support runners across the rugged and remote terrain,” said the SPA report, quoting organizers.
Registration
Registration is now open, with entry fees beginning at SAR100 and SAR50 for the Kids Run.
Participants can secure slots by booking through experiencealula.com. Race Arabia will then issue the formal registration link and final e-ticket containing route maps, race instructions, and preparation guidance.
During its launch in 2023, the AlUla Trail Race saw 600 runners. The number increased in 2024 and is expected to climb again in next year’s edition.
The race has quickly established itself as one of the region’s most unique and popular running events, with the wonders of AlUla providing a remarkable backdrop.
It is part of the AlUla Moments 2025/26 calendar, a year-round schedule of events and festivals designed to celebrate and promote AlUla as a premier destination for tourism, sports, culture, and heritage.
