KARACHI: The Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan Mr. Dan Stoenescu met with Kamran Khan Tessori, Governor of Sindh, at the Governor House in Karachi to discuss measures aimed at strengthening Romania–Pakistan cooperation across key sectors, including economy, education, technology, and culture.
During the meeting, the Romanian envoy highlighted over six decades of diplomatic relations between the two countries and acknowledged Romania’s early contribution to Pakistan’s industrial development, notably in the establishment of the oil refinery in Karachi and several cement plants.
Both sides agreed that Sindh, with its strategic importance and the Karachi Port, could serve as a vital bridge for enhanced trade between South Asia and Europe through Romania’s Port of Constanța.

The discussions also focused on expanding bilateral trade beyond the current USD 250 million, encouraging Romanian investment in green energy, IT, and innovation, and promoting academic and cultural exchanges. The envoy also proposed exploring opportunities for Romanian scholarships and the establishment of a Romanian university campus in Karachi.
To commemorate the occasion, the ambassador planted a tree symbolizing the enduring friendship between Romania and Pakistan and was presented with the “Bell of Hope”, a gesture reflecting Governor Tessori’s dedication to public service and goodwill.
The Romanian envoy expressed gratitude for the Governor’s warm hospitality and reaffirmed Romania’s commitment to building a modern, forward-looking partnership rooted in mutual respect, innovation, and sustainable development.
