Islamabad – Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, emphasized Pakistan’s desire to expand bilateral cooperation with the Philippines during his keynote address at the 127th Independence Day celebrations of the Republic of the Philippines in Islamabad.

Representing the Government of Pakistan, the Minister extended warm felicitations to the Filipino leadership and people, praising their historic struggle for freedom as a testament to resilience and national unity. “The Philippines’ journey reflects the enduring spirit of courage—an inspiration for nations worldwide,” he remarked.

Highlighting the longstanding diplomatic relations since 1949, Hussain noted the shared democratic values and mutual respect that have strengthened ties between the two nations. He proposed enhanced collaboration in agriculture, climate resilience, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, and digital innovation, stressing the need for joint research and institutional partnerships.

On trade, the Minister called for increased business engagement, particularly in agri-tech, textiles, processed foods, and halal products. “Pakistan welcomes Filipino investment and encourages stronger participation in trade expos and business exchanges,” he said.

Acknowledging cultural bonds, Hussain commended the Filipino community in Pakistan and the growing presence of Pakistani professionals and students in the Philippines, calling them “a bridge of friendship.”

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral cooperation, he expressed confidence in further deepening bilateral relations, concluding with renewed Independence Day wishes for prosperity and progress to the Filipino people.
